Quick Tips Before Creating a Brand New Logo

September 3, 2016

Before initiating any project it’s essential to get the basic information from clients. When you procure the correct information before starting your design work, you enhance your designs, not to mention save yourself overlong redesign work. Being one of the leading Graphics Design Company New York, we know logos are more about brand than its look. We are answerable for giving not just the brand as a pdf, psd, or .svg, but also for delivering the abstract associations with those brands.

Quick-Tips-Before-Creating-a-Brand-New-Logo

“Products are made in the factory, but brands are created in the mind.”

-Walter Landor

As a designer, our primary occupation is to be excellent visual communicators. With that in mind, if the basic questions aren’t asked before starting–then how can you best serve your clients if we don’t know what their organization is entirely about or who they need to communicate to?

In this article, we make it easier for designers and summarize the most common questions designers should ask quiescent clients, before starting on the actual design, or even before starting the project at all.

About The Business

  • Why do you want a new logo? (if they already have one) What do you want your new logo to accomplish?
  • What does your business / product do?
  • Who are your main competitors (direct or indirect)?
  • Is there any unique story behind your business or business name or logo?

About the Project

  • Do you have a tagline?
  • If so, would you like it stated alongside your logo?
  • Do you have any specific image in mind for your logo?
  • Do you have any color preferences or existing brand colors?
  • Do you have any colors that you do not wish to use?
  • What adjectives should best describe your logo?
  • What feeling or message you want your logo to convey?
  • How do you prefer your logo to be worded or written out? Example: 9spl or 9series solutions Pvt. Ltd.
  • How would you like the typography to appear? Example: script, bold, light, hand drawn, custom lettering, mono
  • Where will your logo be used? Example: print, the web…
  • If the primary usage is for the web, typically horizontal logos work best.

About the Customer

  • Describe your ideal customer?
  • What is the primary message you want to convey to your customers?
  • Would you like to share words that best describe your ideal customer.?
  • What’s the age range of your target customer base? Helps in creating an overall feeling and impression of the logo.

Other Questions

  • What’s your preferred deadline, time frame or exact date of completion?
  • What is your Budget?

This may seem like a continued list of questions, but you’ll save designers much time and effort by getting clients to answer these upfront. It’ll help you exterminate clients that are not a good fit. Those who’re looking for a quick, cheap job, will not bother to fill it out, will be able to fill out the questionnaire with ease. Working transparently with a client adds value to company business and target makes your task that much smoother.

Creating a recognizable brand opens personal as well as professional opportunities. As 9series carrying transparency characteristics has driven us as a leading Graphics Design Company in USA. Feel free to contact us for any query.
