GDG Ahmedabad hosted the Google I/O Extended meet-up at 9series Solution Pvt. Ltd on 8th May 2018. GDG- Google Developers Group Ahmedabad is for the developers who have interest in latest technology and developments happening in Google. Right from Android, App Engine, Google Cloud, Google Initiated AI activities & Google Chrome Platforms, they organize talks, tech Seminars around the development by Google.
There were more than 70 attendees at the meetup organized at 9series premises, Avadesh House, SG Highway, Ahmedabad. All attendees were able to experience the Live I/O Keynotes and sessions in real-time. Google brings new innovations each year and this year was focused more towards AI. In the keynotes, they learned about the upcoming products & platform from Google. Sundar Pichai made some of the interesting announcements of the year for the tech industry and the excitement could be heard in their voices after each announcement was made. AI was the highlight of the event showing how it will impact major sectors.

Android P Public Beta
The Android P public beta will now be available on upcoming Google Pixel and flagship phones from Essential Phone, OnePlus, Mi, Sony, Essential, Oppo handsets.
New Assistant Voices – Including John Legend’s
For this Google said that 6 new voices will be added to Google Assistant this year. One of the voices will be of Legendary singer-songwriter John Legend.
Google News by AI
Google News is being reconstructed and its editorial focus will be powered mostly by AI. The company says “it uses artificial intelligence to analyze all the content published to the web at any moment, and organize all of those articles, videos, and more into storylines. It spots the ones you might be interested in and puts them in your briefing.”
New ‘Pretty Please’ Mode
A new Pretty Please mode for Google Assistant will ensure that everyone in the house learns to say “please” and “thank you”. It will encourage kids to say “Please” once you enable it.
Google Duplex Technology
With the new Google Duplex technology, the Assistant will be able to call your salon for an appointment and also book a table at the restaurant.
AR Features and Assistant in Maps
Google has shown a prospective new AR feature it plans to add to Google Maps in future.
Google Lens Expansion and New Features
What is Google Lens, how does it work, and which devices have it was discussed here. There was an announcement to integrate Google Lens with a native camera app. This will impact heavily on product adoption.
